The Net Payout Advantage
Unverified private sales suffer from steep buyer "risk discounts"—buyers lowball heavily to hedge against hidden frame fatigue, worn drivetrains, or neglected maintenance.
Because every Ciclovelo listing undergoes a multi-point inspection, deep clean, tune-up, studio photography, and a 1-on-1 studio fitting, our listings command top-of-market pricing. Our goal is that sellers net equal to or higher cash in hand after our fee than they would selling it privately on their own—all while enjoying a 100% hands-off experience.
1. Transparent Progressive Commission
We only get paid when your item sells. Our incentives are 100% aligned with yours—the higher the final sale price, the more we both earn. That means we are directly motivated to market, position, and sell your gear for top dollar.

Wheelset Logistics & Transport Rules
- Seller Drop-Off or GTA Meetup: FREE (Drop off at our Toronto partner space or an agreed central location).
- Complimentary Doorstep Pickup: FREE for wheelsets listed at $2,000 CAD or above, or when consigned alongside a complete bicycle.
- Under $2,000 CAD Doorstep Pickup: A flat $100 CAD logistics fee applies if doorstep concierge pickup is requested for standalone wheelsets under $2,000 CAD.
2. Buyer Reservations, Deposits & Hand-Off Terms
Rules governing reservation requests, deposits, appointments, refunds and final ownership transfer.
Reservation Requests
Submitting a reservation request does not reserve an item and does not create an obligation to purchase. No payment is collected when the request is submitted, and the listing remains Available.
Ciclovelo will contact the prospective buyer to confirm availability, answer questions, perform basic sizing or compatibility screening, and agree upon an appointment. Ciclovelo may decline a reservation request or recommend that the buyer not proceed if the item appears unsuitable.
Reservation Deposits
Once screening has been completed, Ciclovelo may invite the buyer to reserve the item by paying:
- $500 CAD for a bicycle; or
- $200 CAD for a wheelset.
The buyer will receive the item details, appointment details, and applicable deposit terms in writing before payment. Payment of the deposit represents the buyer’s commitment to purchase the specified item, subject only to the refund conditions below. The deposit is applied in full to the purchase price if the transaction is completed. The listing changes to Pending only after Ciclovelo verifies receipt of the deposit.
Sizing & Compatibility Disclaimer
Ciclovelo may ask the buyer for information such as height, inseam, current bicycle size, riding preferences, or bicycle specifications before accepting a reservation deposit.
Pre-reservation sizing screening is general guidance and is separate from the 1-on-1 fitting offered at the appointment. Neither screening nor the fitting guarantees personal comfort, performance or preference.
The buyer remains responsible for confirming that the advertised frame size, geometry, components, and intended use are suitable. For wheelsets and components, the buyer is responsible for providing complete and accurate information about the bicycle on which the item will be installed.
Reservation Appointments
Reservation appointments normally occur within 48 hours after the deposit is received, at the time agreed upon before payment.
At the appointment, bicycle buyers receive the included 1-on-1 fitting and may inspect the item to confirm that it is consistent with the listing and Ciclovelo’s written disclosures. If the buyer accepts the item, the deposit is applied to the purchase price and the remaining balance must be paid before hand-off.
If the buyer declines an accurately described item for reasons that do not qualify for a refund, the deposit is retained and the listing may be returned to Available. Any request to cancel or reschedule must be made as soon as possible. Ciclovelo may permit a rescheduled appointment but is not required to do so. Rescheduling does not make an otherwise non-refundable deposit refundable.
When a Deposit Is Refundable
The reservation deposit will be refunded if:
- Ciclovelo or the seller cancels the transaction or cannot make the item available.
- The item materially differs from its published listing or Ciclovelo’s written disclosures provided before the deposit.
- Ciclovelo discovers an undisclosed material structural, mechanical, safety, authenticity, or ownership issue, and the buyer declines to proceed.
- Ciclovelo provided materially incorrect written compatibility information after the buyer supplied complete and accurate information.
A refund under this section will be returned to the original payment source where reasonably possible.
When a Deposit Is Not Refundable
Except where required by applicable law, the reservation deposit is not refundable if:
- The buyer changes their mind or cancels after paying the deposit.
- The buyer fails to attend the agreed appointment or cannot complete the remaining balance.
- The buyer provided inaccurate or incomplete sizing or compatibility information.
- An accurately described bike does not fit, feel, handle, or perform according to personal preference.
- An accurately described wheelset is unsuitable because of information the buyer did not provide.
- The buyer identifies a condition or specification disclosed before payment.
Personal fit and preference are subjective. A buyer’s conclusion that an accurately described bicycle feels too large, small, aggressive, or stiff does not constitute a listing discrepancy.
Discretionary Deposit Transfers
If an accurately described item does not suit the buyer, Ciclovelo may, at its discretion, allow the reservation deposit to be applied to another currently available Ciclovelo item.
A transfer is not guaranteed and does not give the buyer a right to a cash refund, future store credit, or assurance that suitable replacement inventory will become available.
Payment Methods & Card Surcharges
Reservation deposits are normally paid by Interac e-Transfer or bank transfer. Reservation deposits are administered by Ciclovelo under this policy.
The remaining balance must be received and cleared before release (e-Transfer, bank transfer, or bank draft). If credit card payment is permitted upon request, any processing surcharge will be disclosed before authorization and will not exceed permitted legal limits. All prices are stated in Canadian dollars (CAD).
Acceptance, Ownership & Final Sale
Payment of a reservation deposit does not transfer ownership or possession of the item. Ownership transfers only after: (1) the buyer has inspected and accepted the item; (2) Ciclovelo has received complete cleared payment; and (3) the item has been physically handed over or delivered to the buyer. Except for rights that cannot legally be excluded, used items are final sale following acceptance, full payment, and hand-off.
3. Consignment Terms, Dynamic Pricing & Seller Payouts
Standard consignment agreements run for 60 to 90 days. All initial list prices and target payouts are mutually agreed upon prior to intake.
Dynamic Pricing & Active Market Reviews
To maintain momentum and ensure your gear sells within the consignment window, listings receive scheduled market evaluations based on local GTA buyer inquiries and market demand:
- First Review (Day 14): Initial evaluation of views, inquiries, and saved listing metrics.
- Weekly Cadence (Every 7 Days Thereafter): Continuous reviews every 7 days to adjust positioning as required.
- Agreed Adjustments: Any price optimizations are mutually agreed upon to align with active market data and drive serious buyer conversion.
Service Scope & Early Termination Fees
Our servicing, multi-point safety inspections, drivetrain detailing, fresh bar tape installation (for bikes), truing/bearing checks (for wheels), studio media shoot, and marketing are 100% free when your item sells through Ciclovelo (fully covered by our standard commission).
However, if a seller chooses to terminate the consignment agreement prior to the 60-day mark, or refuses reasonable market price adjustments resulting in an unsold return, an Early Termination Fee applies prior to release or return delivery:
- Complete Bicycles: Flat $300 CAD Servicing & Transport Fee (covers physical detailing, fresh components, labor, and GTA doorstep pickup/return).
- Wheelsets: Flat $100 CAD Servicing & Handling Fee (covers spoke tension check, lateral/radial truing, freehub/bearing service, deep wash, studio photography, and labor).
Seller Payout Terms
Ciclovelo normally issues the seller’s payout within 48–72 hours after the buyer has accepted the item, complete payment has cleared, and physical hand-off has occurred.
Note: A buyer's reservation deposit does not constitute a completed sale and does not trigger seller payout.
