Ciclovelo is a Toronto-based, cyclist-led marketplace that brings bike-shop care and confidence to pre-owned road and gravel bike sales.
We collect, inspect, clean, service and professionally present every item, then manage buyer inquiries, fittings, payment and hand-off from beginning to end.
Meet Dan Donovan
Ciclovelo was founded by Dan Donovan, a Toronto cyclist, Morning Glory Cycling Club member, and occasional racer who has competed in Ontario Cup events and other road and gravel races across the province.
Dan has spent more than 20 years building technology businesses, marketplaces, and operational teams, with leadership roles at companies including Voiceflow, Faire, Amazon, Porter Airlines, and FanXchange.
Ciclovelo combines those two worlds: a cyclist’s understanding of high-end performance bikes and an operator’s focus on transparency, consistency, and a professionally managed customer experience.
Why Ciclovelo Exists
Buying or selling a valuable bike through general classifieds is rarely a great experience.
Sellers deal with lowball offers, repetitive questions, uncertain payments, and uncomfortable parking-lot meetups. Buyers are expected to assess expensive carbon frames, component wear, and mechanical condition from a few photos and a short description.
Ciclovelo was created to close that gap by making a pre-owned transaction feel much closer to buying from a trusted bike shop.
A Managed Experience From Start to Finish
For sellers: We handle doorstep pickup across the GTA, preparation, photography, listing creation, buyer communication, appointments, payment, and hand-off.
For buyers: We provide detailed specifications, transparent condition reporting, serviced and ride-ready bikes, a 1-on-1 fitting session, and a managed transaction.
The result is a more professional experience for both sides—without the uncertainty of a typical private sale.
Local by Design
Ciclovelo operates from the High Park area and serves Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area.
We do not operate a traditional walk-in storefront. Pickups, fittings, inspections, and hand-offs are arranged by appointment at private studio spaces and trusted local venues selected for each transaction. The exact location and appointment details are confirmed in advance.
This flexible model lets us provide a personal, bike-shop-style experience without the overhead of a permanent retail location.
Your Bike in Our Care
Each consigned item is documented when it enters Ciclovelo’s custody and handled carefully throughout pickup, transportation, servicing, storage, and buyer appointments.
Ciclovelo maintains commercial liability and property insurance covering theft or damage to bicycles while they are in our physical custody, subject to the policy’s applicable terms, limits, and exclusions.
